When purchasing hex head bolts, you'll need the following information:
Diameter
Thread pitch
Length
Grade of material
Type of material
Plating, if any.
For instance, to purchase a Grade 8 Hex Head Bolt, it is best to use a
bolt gauge, something like the SORCG1, to get the correct diameter.
The gauge has limitations to sizes from a #6 diameter screw to 1” bolts.
To get the thread pitch, gauges like the HAN12016 can help.
To get the length, which for hex-head bolts is measured under the head
to the end of the bolt, use the SORCG1 gauge or a ruler if available.
Our customer service people can help you identify the Grade of
your bolt and other specifications if needed.
